Humantay Lake

The Humantay lagoon is formed as the product of global warming, or the thaw of a large glacier which in turn forms part of the Vilcabamba mountain range. The characteristic of the lagoon is the natural color that it possesses even if it does not have a lot of marine flora in its waters it possesses an indescribable color in words, forming a unique landscape. This stage is also included as a camp in the Salkantay treck.

From Cusco you reach the pueblo of Mollepata 3000 meters, after about two hours by car through wonderful Andean landscapes. From Mollepata after a hearty breakfast continue towards the community of Sorayapampa for about 1 hour and 30 and you arrive at the camp-site 3800 meters starting point of the trek, a walk of about an hour and a half goes up to 4250 meters of the lagoon.

The walk will make you feel a sense of peace and tranquility due to its natural beauty. With a mystical air the lagoon is visited by Shamans and tourists from all over the world to leave an offer to Pachamama (Madre Tierra) through the placement of stones thanking them for having arrived there and accompanying them on their journey.
